Hey, I'm Lucas, a 20 year old photographer & poet from Vancouver Island.
I'm endlessly inspired by nature, and have always felt like I could find pieces of myself interspersed among the leaves and streams. It seemed as if the natural world was full of metaphors; like when I couldn't quite make sense of a situation, all I had to do was step into the tree line, and there was an answer.
That's what I capture with my images.
Poetry has been another means to make sense of the world for me. The poetry and the photography happen independently of each other. Oddly enough, however, I always find that whatever poem I've written melds perfectly with the ideas I tried to express in a past image. So, I stitch the two together, and come away with a complete piece of art. Perhaps this happens because the concepts of an image are still swimming about in my brain for a while after creation, and bleed into my words. Or perhaps its some kind of magic (I prefer the latter, I've always wanted to be a wizard.)
Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy these little bits of myself I've severed ties with. They've served me well - and all I hope is that they serve you well, too.
